Buyer FAQ

Frequenty asked questions

What is FreshFarmFood?

FreshFarmFood is an online farm shop for locally produced food. We hope to make it accessible for people to buy excellent local food and support local producers.

Is the food delivered? Or pickup only?

That depends on the seller. Many local businesses offer delivery within a certain area, sometimes for a small fee or even for free. However, some sellers are unable to provide delivery and require customers to pick up their orders from designated drop-off locations.

What is a market?

A market is a group of sellers who come together to sell their products at the same time and location, making it more convenient for customers to pick up their orders. It allows you to buy food from multiple local sellers in one place.

What if I can't pick up my order? Can I get a refund?

By using Fresh Farm Food, customers agree that if they place an order but fail to pick it up, the payment remains with the seller. Food has a perishability risk, and it wouldn’t be fair for sellers to lose payment if the food spoils due to a no-show. If you're unable to pick up your order, we recommend reaching out to the seller to see if they can adjust your pickup day or time.

How does it work?

FreshFarmFood is a site for local producers to sell their produce. It allows sellers to create a profile, list their products for sale, manage orders and inventory. Buyers can browse the site, find local sellers, and place orders for pickup. We intend to make it simple for local producers to sell their products and for customers to discover and buy fresh, local food.

How do payments work?

We manage payments with the help of Stripe, one of the world's largest payment processors. When you sign up, you'll be asked to connect your bank account to Stripe. When a customer places an order, the payment is processed through Stripe and deposited into your bank account.

Do you charge to use the site?

We don’t charge sellers anything. We charge a 10% order fee to buyers to cover payment processing fees and the cost of running the site.

How do I know when I have an order?

When you create a farm profile, we ask for your email and phone number. We use this to send you an email whenever you get an order through the site.
